The only homework this week is for each child to decorate their Writers Workshop notebook. I would like them to decorate it in an "All about me" theme. They are to put pictures of people, places and things that they love. I would like them to be finished by Friday! Thank you!

Welcome Parents & Students!
This year is going to be spectacular and I am so excited to be working with your children! First and foremost we will grow spiritually this year, as well as academically. It is important that they learn to put God first and to live for Him! We will have a year full of exciting activities and projects that will enhance their learning. Feel free to contact me as needed at the phone number or email above. Listed below are a few important details:

Verse of the year:
2nd Timothy 2:15
Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.

Class Rules:
S- Stay on task.
T- Talk politely and work quietly.
A- Always follow directions.
R- Respect everyone and everything.

Expectations for Behavior in the Classroom:
Students are expected to follow all of the rules of the classroom and the rules found in the NSCA handbook (Including dress code). My goal is for ALL students to become independent learners. If a student has difficulty with behavior, he/she will be properly punished. Chronic problems or severe misbehavior will need to be handled with more specific consequences. We will let parents know immediately if a student is having severe problems with behavior at school.

SORRY:

My classroom discipline is based upon the game SORRY. Students are given 1 warning if they are not following the rules and then they will lose 5 minutes. After the action is repeated the students will then lose 10, 15, and 20 minutes from recess. If the issue is the afternoon the punishment will be missing a part of something else. If your child receives 10 or more minutes they will bring home a Sorry slip that needs to be signed and returned to me the next day.

Test Slips:

Every Monday I will be sending home a Test Slip Packet. It will hold all of the tests from the previous week. Please look over and sign the slip. If you have any concerns there will be room for comments.

Specials:
 Tuesday- Music & P.E.
Wednesday- Art
Friday- P.E.
* Please make sure your child dresses appropriately for P.E.

Blog:
missapplegarthnsca.blogspot.com
This year I will be using a blog to communicate weekly assignments and activities. It is a great way to check for homework, if you forgot! J There are also educational links available for students.  I strongly encourage you to look at this !

Extra Help:
For students who have a low average in a certain subject, there will be a Help Class. The class will start in two weeks and students will be notified if they are to attend per my request.

Prayer Requests:
Please pray for your child this year as they will be challenged both academically and spiritually. Also please pray for NSCA and its growth this year!

I look forward to working with you all this year! I wish you many blessings!
